System Status Update: April 24, 2024

This page will update the status of the new CTDA system at irregular intervals while the system continues to gain stability and functionality. We appreciate your patience and support as we roll out the new CTDA.

General Comments for Content Managers

  • If you want your account activated to ingest permanent content in the new system, contact Michael Howser on the CTDA Slack space.

System Status

  • System response time has improved significantly as a result of new updates on February 28 (see performance project below)
  • Handles are currently NOT being assigned to new objects. All objects missing handles (new and legacy) will be assigned handles in bulk after the migration clean up phase is complete

Recent Feature Implementations and Fixes

  • Errors in MIrador viewers have been corrected.

Ongoing System Projects

  • Entity relationship issue: Some content is not properly associated with the correct Group during certain activities. There is no timeline yet for fixing this issue. Activities affected include:
    • Batch Upload Children
    • Moving an item from one group to another
    • Some legacy content with errors in the records
  • Content anomalies, Migration stubs, and changeme labels are being addressed by CTDA students.
  • Term Merge: Term merge allows us to normalize and consolidate taxonomy terms to make searching more precise. Term merge  has capability issues with the latest release of Drupal, we are waiting for an update from the Drupal community
  • Handle generation for new and existing repository items is now expected on the cutover to the new system date
  • DNS cutover (ctdigitalarchive.org pointing to Modern CTDA) is expected by Mid-May 2024
  • Production hardware is online and being tested.
  • Performance enhancement
    • System upgrades improved system response time significantly.
    • More improvements in response time will follow when we move the system to the production hardware (see above)
  • Third party automated ingest allows external systems such as the State Library's Redaction system, and CLHO's CTCo system to automatically transfer files and metadata to the CTDA
    • CSL's third party ingest system is now live
    • CLHO process has been tested and is being refined before production implementation

System Projects in the future

These future enhancements are in different stages of defining and evaluation.

  • Serials (Newspaper) display using JStree will improve performance of newspaper display
  • Upgrades to Batch Modify Metadata including search and replace and modifications of large numbers of items at once.
  • Upgrades to Term Merge including faster display of term lists
  • Configure OAI-PMH harvest to resume uploading content to the DPLA
