New Haven County, County Court, Papers by Subject, 1700-1855

1700 to 1855
The New Haven County, County Court Papers by Subject is an artificial collection consisting of selected cases previously removed from the New Haven County, County Court Cases, 1700-1855 by State Library staff. This type of rearrangement was a common practice among librarians during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The records were organized into the following subject categories including, but not limited to: Admission to the Bar, Appeals, Appointment of Officers, Confiscated Estates and Loyalists, Conservators and Guardians, Costs, Court Expenses, Equity Bills, Executions (meaning the record of when and how a writ was completed, not to be confused with capital punishment), Insolvents, Jurors, Justices of the Peace, Licenses, Lists, Militia, Partition Land, Revolutionary Pensions, Travel, and Miscellaneous. Please note that subject categories are incomplete and that cases pertaining to each category may also be located in the New Haven County, County Court Cases , 1700-1855 folder in the Connecticut Digital Archive. In addition, not all subjects in this record group could be digitized at this time.
