Description
Interview with Fred Tucker. Interviewed by Peter Moran on July 19, 2022 at New Haven Free Public Library Wilson Branch, 303 Washington Street, New Haven. Fred Tucker is a 75 year old cancer survivor. He was born and raised in New Haven, but his neighborhood, Oak Street, was demolished with interstate construction and urban renewal when Fred was a child. He spoke about his experience of the pandemic as a senior citizen, a cancer survivor, and a resident of a retirement home. He specifically discussed the challenges he faced as an active person during lockdown and in the general atmosphere of fear. He has faith in scientific progress, including masks and vaccines, and believes that the future will yield more novel challenges that will be overcome with strength and faith in ourselves.
