Captain Peter Griffing took control of the Schooner Parker in a Long Island harbor and brought it into the port of New Haven. He claimed he was "commissioned by his Excellency Jonathan Trumbull Esqr. Govr. of the State of Connecticut & by him authorized to take seize & make Prize of all Vessels & Property of the Subjects of the King of Great Britain liable to be taken by the Resolution of the Hon[ora]ble Continental Congress."
