Description
This set of correspondence, menus and memorandums are from the latter part of World War II when the New Haven Railroad provided free dinners on their trains to members of the United States Armed Forces who rode the railroad on Christmas Day, specifically in 1944 and 1945. Included are memorandums indicating the policy for Dining Car stewards to follow, menus of the meals served, and letters of thanks from some members of the military who appreciated the meals.
