Description
View of the intersection of Congress Avenue and George Street, Church Street Project area, New Haven, prior to redevelopment. The two-story building on the corner appears to be Congress Square. Storefronts obscure an elaborate facade that features an arch and columns surmounted by statuary. More statues can be seen on the Congess Avenue side of the building to the far left. Business occupants on the Congress Avenue side include Dorer's Furniture. A """"going-out-of-business"""" sign can be seen in a storefront facing George Street. An adjoining two-story commercial building fronts on George Street. Cars are stopped on the street as pedestrians are crossing.
